 Your new role

As a Project & Portfolio Manager you will lead new and ongoing pharma projects at Orexo, from the very first steps of the innovative idea generation phase to late stage product development.

In this position you ensure projects are executed according to agreed timelines, scope and budget as well as for ensuring that sufficient resources are allocated to each project. You are skilled in documenting and communicating project plans and status, including escalation of risks and/or issues. Your scope is also to create and manage efficient and fruitful international cross-functional teams and to secure that Orexo has effective and up to date project management processes and tools.

Within the scope of portfolio related activities, you manage the generation of a continuous flow of new development ideas. You are also responsible for identifying, describing, evaluating (scientifically and commercially) and recommending new ideas to management and/or board of directors for project initiation, in close cooperation with internal and/or external expertise. You will have mandate to engage internal stakeholders to support idea generation and evaluation of defined new ideas. You operate across all functions to assess feasibility, identify potential showstoppers, and assess commercial attractiveness of project ideas (together with commercial teams in the markets). You will also have the opportunity to be involved in the assessment of business development opportunities. You will report to Orexo’s Senior Vice President and Head of R&D.

Qualifications Required

Education

  • PhD degree in appropriate applied science, e.g. pharmaceuticals, chemistry or biology, or equivalent scientific background

Experience

  • 3+ years of Project Management experience
  • Experience of pharmaceutical product development, preferably from an industrial setting

Capabilities

  • Ability to manage functional and cross-functional teams to successful delivery
  • Ability to establish strong acceptance by line functions
  • Aptitude to connect appropriate stakeholders and find solutions to functional and cross-functional obstacles
  • Strong scientific background, preferably paired with good business sense to enable evaluation of new ideas and new business opportunities
  • Strong analytical and communication skills to manage project activities both internally and externally, report progress and escalate issues as needed to management.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and action/results driven behavior in all aspects of responsibilities
  • Excellent command of written and verbal Swedish and English.
