 Your new role

As a Project & Portfolio Manager you will lead new and ongoing pharma projects at Orexo, from the very first steps of the innovative idea generation phase to late stage product development.

In this position you ensure projects are executed according to agreed timelines, scope and budget as well as for ensuring that sufficient resources are allocated to each project. You are skilled in documenting and communicating project plans and status, including escalation of risks and/or issues. Your scope is also to create and manage efficient and fruitful international cross-functional teams and to secure that Orexo has effective and up to date project management processes and tools.

Within the scope of portfolio related activities, you manage the generation of a continuous flow of new development ideas. You are also responsible for identifying, describing, evaluating (scientifically and commercially) and recommending new ideas to management and/or board of directors for project initiation, in close cooperation with internal and/or external expertise. You will have mandate to engage internal stakeholders to support idea generation and evaluation of defined new ideas. You operate across all functions to assess feasibility, identify potential showstoppers, and assess commercial attractiveness of project ideas (together with commercial teams in the markets). You will also have the opportunity to be involved in the assessment of business development opportunities. You will report to Orexo’s Senior Vice President and Head of R&D.

Qualifications Required

Education

  • PhD degree in appropriate applied science, e.g. pharmaceuticals, chemistry or biology, or equivalent scientific background

Experience

  • 3+ years of Project Management experience
  • Experience of pharmaceutical product development, preferably from an industrial setting

Capabilities

  • Ability to manage functional and cross-functional teams to successful delivery
  • Ability to establish strong acceptance by line functions
  • Aptitude to connect appropriate stakeholders and find solutions to functional and cross-functional obstacles
  • Strong scientific background, preferably paired with good business sense to enable evaluation of new ideas and new business opportunities
  • Strong analytical and communication skills to manage project activities both internally and externally, report progress and escalate issues as needed to management.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and action/results driven behavior in all aspects of responsibilities
  • Excellent command of written and verbal Swedish and English.

Orexo AB, is a pharmaceutical company that develops and commercializes improved pharmaceuticals and digital therapies. The company addresses unmet needs within the growing space of mental illness and substance use disorders. In 2019 Orexo AB started a new business area in digital therapeutics with the mission to redefine treatment of addiction by offering clinically validated digital therapeutics to ensure more successful treatment for patients and cost-effective solutions for payers. In 2020 Orexo acquired the rights to a digital therapy for depression in the US and Orexo has a continued ambition to broaden the portfolio through acquisitions and in-licensing. Orexo’s first digital therapies are today commercialized by Orexo US where Orexo also commercializes its lead product ZUBSOLV® for the treatment of opioid use disorder. The first product where Orexo own the global right, modia®, is now launching in the US and next steps will be an expansion to new geographies.

Tasks

In the role as Business Development Manager of Digital Health you will be responsible for developing and executing business plans for Orexo's digital therapies outside the US, identifying and assessing new business opportunities in digital therapies, negotiating contracts with business partners, understanding the market conditions for digital therapies in different markets including regulatory and reimbursement pathways and establishing relationships with future potential partners for Orexo across the world. The work will be done in close collaboration and with the Team Head in Sweden and Orexo’s digital therapy team in the US. In this capacity you will help build, solidify and execute on the strategy outside the US as well as support the development of the digital team in Sweden. The position will be located in Stockholm, but occasional work from Orexo's head office in Uppsala should be expected.

Minimum Requirements

  • Appropriate Higher Education
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial and innovative attitude with a genuine interest for digital health and business development
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional role in a rapidly evolving industry 
  • Open to travel 
  • Experience working with business development with strong analytical and modelling skills for assessing and prioritizing operational and strategic initiatives in digital areas
  • Minimum 2 year of working experience preferably in management consulting, venture capital, investment banking or from similar role in the life science industry
  • Fluent in English (Swedish is not a requirement)

Bonus Requirements

  • Proficient in other languages 
  • Experience working within the life sciences industry, preferably within digital health and digital therapeutics
  • Worked with market expansion
  • Capability to assess new technical platforms
  • Project Management experience
